Brisbane Open House 2026 seeks expressions of interest

Expressions of interest are now being accepted for the Brisbane Open House 2026 program, scheduled to take place 18-19 July.

Returning for its sixteenth year in 2026, the program will once again invite the public to discover some of the city's most fascinating buildings and spaces - from heritage landmarks to cutting-edge contemporary design.

The 2025 program was the most expansive in five years, more than doubling the 2024 offering with 91 buildings on show. Highlights in the 2025 program included: Blok Stafford Heights by Blok Modular and Vokes and Peters, Floating Gable House by Phorm Architecture and Design, Birdwood by Peter Besley, and John Ellway Architect's Twin Houses.

Expressions of interest are now being accepted from building owners, custodians, architects, landscape designers, urban designers, community groups and organisations, and individuals passionate about Brisbane's built environment.

To submit an expression of interest, visit the Open House Brisbane website. Submissions close 22 February 2026. Successful applicants will be notified in April 2026, followed by an official program announcement in May 2026.

Coinciding with expressions of interest now being open, Brisbane Open House has announced it has appointed new members to its board of directors, including architects Paul Butterworth, John Ellway and Yolande Vorster, and town planner Meredith Hartigan. They join returning members: former Queensland government architect Malcolm Middleton, lawyer Nick Wilson and accountant Rachel Smith. In 2026, the board will introduce co-chairs, with John Ellway to join Malcolm Middleton ahead of Middleton's departure following the 2026 event.
